Our family
We are the Navarini’s, a local family from San Antonio de Areco.
We dedicate mostly to agriculture and livestock production, an activity that not only excites us but is also deeply rooted in our family heritage and history. It is a family legacy passed down from generation to generation, strengthening our connection to the land and tradition.
Estancia La Julia has been part of our family for four generations. In 2009, Claudio and Analía acquired Estancia La Lechuza, and ten years later, the restoration and revitalization of the old and historic Puesto Rural La Lechuza took place.
This project is what now gives us, with great enthusiasm, the opportunity to continue the family legacy.
Since 2021, we have opened the gates of this unique place, where we welcome travelers and visitors, offering them an authentic and enriching experience in the Argentine countryside.
HISTORY
El Puesto La Lechuza was built in the early 1900s, this place has witnessed memorable encounters between “gauchos” of the area. It was known as a resting place for drovers passing through the area with their cattle.
Between 1925 and 1936, it was the home of Don Segundo Ramírez (known as Segundo Sombra) the famous main character of the homonym novel written by Ricardo Güiraldes. Due to this historic connection, in 1970 the place was declared Lugar Significativo Rural (Significant Rural Place) of San Antonio de Areco.
Apart from being the home of Don Segundo Ramírez,La Lechuza also served other functions, such as housing a rural school where local children received an education. It also operated as a countryside pulpería, a central meeting point for social gatherings in the region. Over the years, this historic building has witnessed many aspects of rural Argentine life, although it was unfortunately abandoned over time.
In 2019, El Puesto La Lechuza was meticulously rebuilt by its owner, Claudio Navarini, who preserved the original structure and style, and transformed it into an authentic countryside Pulpería.
Today, it is the perfect place to spend a day in the countryside, where typical meals, mate, and drinks are shared, whether under the shade of trees or by the warmth of the bonfire.
